I gained my Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2018. I then completed specialist post Fellowship training in Colorectal Surgery at Macquarie University Hospital, and then as a post fellowship Trainee under the auspices of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand. I successfully completed yearlong fellowships at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne and Liverpool Hospital in Sydney.
I have a Master of Surgery Degree and Master of Clinical Epidemiology Degree from the University of Sydney. I am currently a RACS clinical examiner and Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) course instructor. I am accredited with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia as an endoscopist. I am a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at Macquarie University Medical School.
My practice includes all facets of open and laparoscopic colorectal surgery, hernia, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, and colonoscopy. I have a special interest in:
- The surgical management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- The early detection and management of colorectal cancer.
- Pelvic floor dysfunction, including faecal incontinence and obstructive defecation. This includes performing a comprehensive assessment with endoanal ultrasound, anal manometry, and pudendal nerve terminal motor latency. I work closely with Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists, Stomal therapists and Dietitians to provide individualised care plans and optimise your functional outcomes.
I actively continue research in Colorectal Cancer, faecal incontinence, and inflammatory bowel disease.
I strongly believe that through building a collaborative partnership with your primary care clinicians and you, together we can strive to provide you with efficient, evidence based optimal treatment.
